INSTRUCTOR: NINA TRAN
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
Skill Level: Open to all skill levels. Familiarity with a broad-edged pen is recommended.
Learn a standardized set of Fraktur capitals that can be used with Fraktur minuscules and adapted to or used with other Gothic styles, including Gothic Textura, Gothicized Italic, and Gothic Cursive. This class will teach you letter proportions and step-by-step formation of each letter.
Workshop Fee: $35.00 - no refunds.
This is a 3-hour workshop with a 15-minute break halfway through. This workshop will be recorded and the recording will be available until November 17, 2025.
Zoom link and handouts will be sent a few days before the start of the workshop.
ABOUT NINA:
Nina Tran is a Los Angeles-based calligrapher whose love for learning letters has turned into a pursuit of understanding what it means to lead a creative life. She teaches a variety of scripts including Copperplate, Spencerian, Gothic Textura, Fraktur, Gothicized Italic, Gothic Cursive, as well as monoline styles. When she is not fiddling with the alphabet, she enjoys reading, sketching, and being out in nature.
WORKSHOP SUPPLY LIST:
- 3.8mm Pilot Parallel Pen
- Cartridge/fountain pen ink refills
- 9x12" Marker/layout paper (ex: Borden & Riley #37 Boris Marker Layout, Canson XL Maker, etc.)
- Mechanical pencil & eraser
- 12" ruler
- Washi tape
- 2 Paper clips
- Paper towels
- Small container of clean water
