ABOUT THE SESSION:  This month, we'll have guest presenter, Risa Gettler:

This zoom presentation includes samples of manuscript pages from the Dark and Middle Ages where large capital chapter titles couldn’t be squeezed in a single line without abbreviations and ligatures. You’ll also see contemporary applications where ligatures create interest for the reader and fun for us lettering artists! We don’t have to use ligatures...except they’re just too much fun NOT to employ.  Ligatures afford lots of options but which are best? I will discuss this while demonstrating so you can see – and take notes – what predicates good choices.

Risa suggests that we watch her demo and take notes, rather than working along--we can try it ourselves when we rewatch on the recording.

We plan to record. Kristi asks that you remind her! Recording will be available for two months.

San Diego SfC hosts its Roman's Study Group most months, on the first Friday, with a hiatus over the summer and in December.  You must sign up for each individual session so that we know how many are interested in each particular session.

We welcome non-SfC-members to these Romans Study Group sessions--your opportunity to get acquainted with us. Members feel free to invite your friends!

Zoom invitation and handouts are sent a day or two in advance.

It's not guaranteed that you'll receive them beforehand, if you sign up the day of the event . . .
