ABOUT THE WORKSHOP: Join us for a journey into creativity, introspection, hand lettering and play.  We will start with two full sheets of Arches Text Wove and will create spaces and areas to design our own unique art.

To begin, we will review and warm up with Casual Romans and variations. Playing with variations of our own handwriting and favorite calligraphic hands will be explored.

Prompts will be offered to provide some introspection and contemplation. We will also use poetry, quotes and your own personal journaling. We will continue with a variety of art techniques, color play, and design. Collage, mask making, rubber stamps, small gel plate, watercolors, stencils, washi tape, masking and more will be techniques for our class.

The final step on this journey will be bookbinding. We will tear down our colorful sheets and sew the books with  a unique binding technique.

This is a fast paced, fun and playful class. It will be a doorway for you to continue in your book at anytime in your art practice.  Beginners and experts alike are welcome.

The supply list will be sent immediately upon registration. Directions and other logistical information will be also be sent about four weeks in advance. Handouts will be provided at the workshop.

ABOUT VERONICA: I began my Calligraphy journey in the late 80's.  I was fortunate to study with Reggie Ezell year long class program and then three semesters with Tim Botts.  My true love has always been Roman Letters.  Studying with Peter Thornton has given me the discipline and creative permission to explore this art form for many years.

In addition to Calligraphy, I do enjoy bookbinding and all sorts of mixed media play.  I am now retired and able to enjoy the time and freedom it offers. I live in the Arizona desert and am a member of The Calligraphic Society of Arizona.

Another Example: Uncut, unbound page spreads from our friend Joyce in Gilbert, AZ:
