ABOUT THE SESSION: These sessions are led by members, sharing what they have learned. They do not claim to be masters. Members and guests may register for any session--there is no requirement to attend all sessions. The aim is to share knowledge with newbies and to provide a refresher for those with more experience. This session, we'll explore ligatures. Kristi will lead.
We plan to record. Kristi asks that you remind her! Recording will be available for two months.
San Diego SfC hosts its Roman's Study Group most months, on the first Friday, with a hiatus over the summer. You must sign up for each individual session--that's the only way we know how many are interested in this particular session.
SUPPLY LIST:
- any paper suitable for drawing letters and ligatures (may be in sketchbook)
- Pencil/eraser
- Ruler or t-square (optional)
- Colored pencils optional--only if you'd like to color the counterspaces, to help see rhythm.
- A favorite phrase: two or three words for a pencil Sherri-Thornton-style "Word Painting" thumbnail, or longer for sketching a written quote.
Flexible Schedule for the evening:
6:30 - 6:45 Announcements and opportunity for attendees to share their work from the past month.
6:45 - 7:30 Demo. Participants work along. We'll be creating our own exemplar, as well as thumbnail sketches.
7:45 - 8:00 Opportunity for those who wish to share what they've completed during the session, time for questions.
We welcome non-SfC-members to these Romans Study Group sessions--your opportunity to get acquainted with us. Members feel free to invite your friends!
Zoom invitation and handouts are sent a day or two in advance.
